William Larue Weller 2005 is a 121.9 Proof technical release from Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113), representing the first-ever barrel-proof expression under the William Larue Weller name. This 2005 debut followed a two-year hiatus for the Antique Collection's wheated slot and marked a technical shift from the previous 90 proof 19-year-old editions to an uncut and unfiltered profile.
Distilled in the fall of 1993, this spirit underwent exactly 12 years and 2 months of maturation in new charred American white oak. This vintage is technically distinguished by its aging on the 5th floor of Warehouse Q, where the elevated microclimate facilitated a technical evaporation loss of 58.04%. This aggressive concentration of wood sugars resulted in a dense, high-viscosity structural framework characterized by fragrant scents of caramel corn, new leather, and plums, transitioning into a palate of marshmallow and salted almonds.
