Marking the 13th installment in this annual series, this expression highlights an advanced grain-science concept by altering the traditional four-grain mash bill blueprint. Utilizing a modified mash bill of 66% corn, 18% oats, 12% malted barley, and 4% rye, the inclusion of oat grain significantly minimizes the traditional spicy rye footprint while introducing unique chemical compounds during fermentation.
Distilled in copper pot stills, the high oil and beta-glucan content of the oat grain shifts the wash chemistry, yielding a highly texturized distillate. Maturation occurred within custom-toasted, heavy-char Brown-Forman cooperage barrels inside heat-cycled stone warehouses. The resulting liquid is structurally dense with a creamy mouthfeel and technical notes of brown sugar, toasted oats, and wood spice, standing as a definitive benchmark for collectors tracking the flavor contribution of alternative grains on a bourbon base.
