2019 Woodford Reserve Distillery Series Brandy Cask Finish Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 90.4 Proof by the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. This limited-edition expression uses the distillery's standard mash bill containing 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. The distillate is processed through copper pot stills before being barreled into new charred American oak. Following standard primary maturation within heat-cycled brick warehouses, the fully matured bourbon is transferred into used American brandy casks for a dedicated finishing period.
Because used brandy barrels lack the tight wood tannins of virgin charred oak, this secondary maturation avoids adding heavy wood structure. Instead, the porous, spirit-soaked staves interact with the base bourbon to concentrate rich dried fruit, walnut, and sweet raisin notes directly into the liquid.
