William Larue Weller 2023 is a 133.6 Proof high-octane wheated bourbon distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113). Distilled in the spring of 2011, this expression underwent a maturation period of 12 years and 6 months within the 2nd and 3rd floors of Warehouses C, L, M, and N. Technical data for this vintage indicates that the spirit entered the barrel at 114 proof and experienced a significant evaporation loss of approximately 66% during its rest in new charred American white oak.
Unlike previous years' "cherry bomb" profiles, the 2023 release is technically distinguished by a shift toward earthier notes and holiday spices, a result of the specific thermal cycles on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the structural integrity of the liquid is defined by its massive viscosity and a profile saturated with dark brown sugar, clove, and toasted pecans.
