William Larue Weller 2022 release is a 124.7 Proof barrel-strength wheated bourbon distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113). Distilled in the spring of 2010, this spirit matured for 12 years and 8 months on the lower floors of Warehouses C, K, and N. This specific maturation environment is technically significant; the cooler microclimate of the bottom tiers moderated the evaporation rate to 64%, allowing for a slower, more refined extraction of wood sugars.
The 2022 release entered the barrel at 114 proof and was bottled uncut and unfiltered, preserving its dense, high-viscosity structural framework. The technical profile is defined by an exceptionally smooth mouthfeel and a profile rich in toasted graham cracker, dark cherry syrup, and creamy vanilla, characteristic of the distillery's signature wheated mash bill when matured in stable thermal zones.
