William Larue Weller 2008 is a 125.3 Proof barrel-strength wheated bourbon distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113). Distilled in the spring of 1997, this spirit underwent a maturation period of 11 years and 2 months in new charred American white oak barrels. This vintage is technically distinguished by its primary maturation on the 9th floor of Warehouse I, where the elevated microclimate facilitated a technical evaporation loss of 52.05%.
Comprised of 40 hand-picked barrels, this release resulted in an estimated 5,131 bottles for the global market. Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the structural integrity of the liquid is defined by its massive viscosity and a profile saturated with the soft, creamy influence of the wheated mash bill. The technical profile delivers dense notes of caramel, dark chocolate, and toasted pecans, refined by over a decade of seasonal thermal cycles.
