William Larue Weller 2006 is a 129.9 Proof technical release from Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113), representing one of the first ever barrel-strength expression in the Weller series. Distilled in the spring of 1991, this wheated bourbon matured for 15 years and 3 months in new charred American white oak. This vintage is technically distinguished by its primary maturation on the 5th floor of Warehouse M, where the intense heat of the upper tiers facilitated an aggressive 50.64% evaporation loss. Comprised of 22 hand-picked barrels, this release had an estimated outturn of 2,905 bottles.
Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the technical profile is defined by an exceptionally dense, high-viscosity structural framework. It delivers potent notes of dark molasses, antique leather, and concentrated dark fruit, showcasing the raw intensity of 1990s-era wheated production before the series transitioned to younger average age statements.
