Very Olde St. Nick Nirvana is a high-viscosity "tanked" bourbon bottled by Preservation Distillery, representing one of the final remaining lots of 1980s-era heritage stocks. Distilled in 1981–1982 at the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery, this wheated bourbon underwent exactly 17 years of primary maturation in charred American white oak before being decanted into stainless steel tanks.
This preservation technique was utilized to arrest wood development at its peak, ensuring the spirit maintains its 17-year structural integrity without the excessive tannins or bitterness often found in over-aged barrels. The Nirvana bottling showcases a dense concentration of vanilla bean, dark chocolate, and the "antique" wood funk associated with the original Stitzel-Weller wheated mash bill, offering a technical profile defined by its resinous texture and historic provenance.
