Stagg Barrel Proof Batch 22A is a 132.2 Proof (66.1% ABV) high proof, small batch bourbon produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Although the batch name suggests a 2022 timeline, this expression actually debuted in early 2023 following labeling delays. It is pulled from select barrels matured for approximately 8 to 9 years in the distillery’s historic brick warehouses and follows the low rye Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #1 recipe.
Bottled uncut and non-chill filtered, the liquid maintains a high concentration of barrel oils and esters. The profile is defined by a powerful delivery of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and the trademark Stagg cherry, followed by a long and warming finish of toasted oak and bold baking spices.
