Sazerac 18 Year Old 2010 Release is a mid-series bottling derived from the legendary 1985 distillation lot, a batch famously rumored to have originated at either the Old Bernheim Distillery or George T. Stagg Distillery. This spirit underwent 18 years of primary maturation in new charred American white oak before reaching peak maturity in 2003, when the remaining barrels were transferred into stainless steel vats.
This technical vatting process arrested all further wood interaction, ensuring that every annual release from 2005 through 2015 maintained the exact flavor profile achieved at the 18-year mark. Bottled at a consistent 90 proof, this 2010 edition offers the preserved structural framework of heritage 1980s rye, exhibiting a high-viscosity body and a complex profile defined by herbal tea, citrus zest, and allspice, underpinned by the dense, resinous sweetness of stabilized wood aging.
