Old Forester 117 Series High Angels' Share (Batch 001) is a 110 Proof (55% ABV) straight bourbon produced as a limited distillery release at the Brown-Forman Shively Distillery (DSP-KY-354). This inaugural 2021 release in the 117 Series utilizes the classic distillery mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. The expression is a blend of 27 low-yield barrels, ranging from 4.75 to nearly 7 years of age, that experienced exceptionally high evaporation rates during maturation.
These barrels were aged in Old Forester’s signature heat-cycled warehouses, where controlled temperature spikes forced deeper wood interaction for the remaining liquid. This concentrated aging process results in a dense, multi-dimensional profile of rich caramel, toasted coconut, and dark brown sugar, balanced by intense oak spice and a finish of roasted coffee and black pepper.
