George T. Stagg 2020 is a powerful barrel-strength expression from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, distilled at DSP-KY-113 using the distillery's signature low-rye Mashbill #1. Distilled in the spring of 2005, the spirit underwent 15 years and 4 months of maturation in new charred American white oak. This vintage reached a robust 130.4 proof, signaling a return to higher-intensity profiles following the record-low proof of the previous year.
The barrels experienced a substantial evaporation loss, which concentrated the liquid into a dense, oily structural framework. The technical profile is defined by an extreme concentration of wood sugars and charred oak tannins, resulting in deep notes of dark chocolate, molasses, and spicy clove that maintain a high-viscosity mouthfeel throughout the finish.
