George T. Stagg 2016 is a high-octane release from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, distilled at DSP-KY-113 using the distillery's signature low-rye Mashbill #1. Distilled in the spring of 2001, this expression reached a massive 144.1 proof after 15 years and 4 months of maturation in new charred American white oak.
This vintage represents one of the highest proofs in the modern history of the series, a technical result of a staggering evaporation loss that concentrated the liquid into a dense, oily structural framework. With an estimated 9,496 bottles released, the profile is defined by an extreme concentration of wood sugars, delivering intense notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and spicy tobacco that persist through an exceptionally long, warming finish.
