George T. Stagg 2013 represents a technical shift in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, marking the first time in over a decade that the release proof fell below the 130-threshold. Distilled in the spring of 1997 at DSP-KY-113 using the low-rye Mashbill #1, the spirit underwent 15 years and 11 months of maturation in new charred American white oak.
This vintage is technically distinct due to its moderated evaporation loss, which yielded an estimated 11,196 bottles for the global market. Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the structural profile is characterized by a refined balance of dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and spicy clove, offering a more nuanced wood integration and a high-viscosity mouthfeel that distinguishes it from the aggressive high proof releases of previous years.
