Eagle Rare 17 Year Old 2019 is a landmark release in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, marking the permanent return to the brand's original 101 proof—a tribute to the strength of its inaugural 1974 debut. Distilled in the spring of 2002 at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113), this expression was matured for 17 years and 3 months in new charred American white oak. This vintage is technically distinguished by its aging on the 1st floor of Warehouse P, where the cooler, stable microclimate allowed for a slow, deep maturation.
Despite the lower floor placement, the barrels experienced an aggressive 66% evaporation loss, which concentrated the liquid into a dense, oily structural framework. The profile is defined by its "old wood" character, featuring a refined balance of dark chocolate, salted caramel, and toasted oak, underpinned by the signature black cherry and antique leather notes inherent to high-aged Low-Rye Mashbill #1 stocks.
