Eagle Rare 17 Year Old 2012 is a 90 Proof technical allocation from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, distilled at DSP-KY-113 using the distillery's signature Low-Rye Mashbill #1. Distilled in the spring of 1993, this spirit underwent a maturation period of 19 years and 1 month in new charred American white oak, far exceeding the stated age on the label. This vintage is technically distinguished by its primary maturation on the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th floors of Warehouses I and K, where the specific rickhouse microclimates facilitated a 54.2% evaporation loss.
This concentration of the "angel's share" yielded a dense, high-viscosity structural framework. The technical profile is defined by an elegant integration of aged wood and dark fruit, delivering a "polished" profile of antique leather, toasted oak, and vanilla bean, underpinned by the signature dried cherry and tobacco notes characteristic of the distillery's senior heritage stocks.
