Booker's Toogie's Invitation 6 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Released as Batch 2016-03 and bottled at 129 proof, this uncut, unfiltered Booker's release was named for Marilyn 'Toogie' Dick, a longtime friend of Booker and Annis Noe.
Master Distiller Fred Noe selected 375 barrels from six different rack-houses, aged at least 6 years, 4 months, and 4 days. Per Fred Noe, 'Toogie herself, along with the Booker's Roundtable, helped me to select this batch at her restaurant, Kurtz, in Bardstown, KY.' Booker's is always bottled uncut, unfiltered, and at barrel proof.
Per Fred Noe's notes, on the nose, it shows robust vanilla and caramel notes with a slightly smoky edge. The palate brings deep, complex flavors of vanilla, nuts, and oak, and the finish carries a long and full character built for easygoing sipping. The pour shows Booker's darkest, deepest amber and henna color.
A higher-proof 2016 batch, this Booker's release is closely tracked by collectors building a complete named-batch run. Bottled at full barrel strength with no chill filtration, it rewards a few drops of water and drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
