Part of the distillery's acclaimed Collaborative Series, in which the blending team partners with renowned winemakers, brewers and brandy houses to finish its award-winning whiskey in their used casks. This early Collaborative release pairs a Tennessee bourbon with Phifer Pavitt's Napa Valley winemaking. The Bardstown Bourbon Company blending team finishes the whiskey for 18 months in the winery's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. The wine influence layers dark fruit and tannic structure over the bourbon's grain backbone. Each Collaborative release is a limited, single-finish bottling, and no two editions share the same partner cask.
On the nose, ripe black cherry, cocoa, and oak. The palate brings dark berry, baking spice, and a wine-soaked sweetness. The finish carries grippy tannin and lingering vanilla.
