Bottled in late 2016 and officially released in January 2017, this expression utilizes the distillery's core triple-distilled copper pot still mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. After a primary maturation of 5 to 7 years in new charred white oak barrels inside heat-cycled brick warehouses, the spirit is transferred to a secondary finishing container.
While the standard Double Oaked finishes for a single year, this specific Double Double Oaked expression remains in the separate, heavily toasted and flash-charred new oak barrel for a full 24 months. This extended contact timeline doubles the wood exposure, forcing a concentrated extraction of heavy wood spice, deep dark chocolate, clove, burnt caramel, and dry oak tannins.
