George T. Stagg 2003 Second Release is a legendary high proof bottling from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113) using Mashbill #1. This expression reached an aggressive 142.7 proof after 15 years of maturation, a result of significant evaporation within the upper floors of the distillery's metal-clad warehouses. Distilled in the spring of 1988 and bottled in the fall of 2003, the liquid represents a technical peak in barrel concentration for the series.
Because it was bottled uncut and unfiltered, the spirit maintains a high density of phenolic compounds and wood oils, yielding a structural framework defined by dark molasses, heavy charred oak, and concentrated tobacco. This specific vintage remains one of the highest proofs ever recorded for the Stagg portfolio, sought by collectors for its raw intensity and technical purity.
