Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Classic Malt is a 90.4 Proof (45.2% ABV) highly experimental, limited-edition single-grain release produced by Woodford Reserve Distillery. Released in late 2013 as part of a historic "Double Malt" conceptual pairing, this expression bypasses traditional bourbon grain bills in favor of a 100% malted barley mash recipe. The liquid was entirely triple-distilled in traditional copper pot stills at the Versailles facility.
Deviating from standard American aging laws, it was matured for roughly 6 to 8 years inside used, recycled ex-bourbon casks—replicating traditional Scottish maturation methods. Housed in historic stone masonry warehouses, this specific wood choice imparts a lighter, creamy body with technical structural notes of harvested hay, lemon zest, wild heather, and delicate honey sweetness.
