William Larue Weller 2017 is a 128.2 Proof (BTAC) wheated bourbon distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113). This release was distilled in the winter of 2005 and matured for 12 years and 6 months in new charred American white oak. The spirit entered the barrel at 114 proof and was aged on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of Warehouses D, I, and P. Technical data for this vintage indicates a significant 54% evaporation loss, which concentrated the liquid into a dense, oily structural framework.
Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the technical profile is defined by an exceptionally rich mouthfeel with concentrated notes of toasted marshmallow, salted caramel, and dark plum, showcasing the hallmark velvety texture of the distillery's signature wheated mash bill refined by over twelve years of seasonal thermal cycles.
