Still Austin Distillery Reserve Ex Blue Corn is a 116.4 Proof (58.2% ABV) aggressive, cask-strength finished rye whiskey produced at the Still Austin Whiskey Co. distillery. This explosive, small-batch expression features a 100% Texas rye base that underwent a secondary maturation in barrels previously holding the distillery’s Blue Corn Bourbon. Maturation occurred in new American oak before the finishing phase within the distillery's Austin-based urban rickhouses.
The extreme Texas climate accelerated the exchange of sweet, oily corn remnants with the spicy rye distillate, resulting in a dense, high-viscosity spirit. Technical specs highlight a unique profile of roasted sweet corn and spicy black pepper, balanced by a creamy mouthfeel and a lingering finish of charred oak and clove. This release represents an experimental crossover between two of the distillery's most sought-after mash bills.
