True to the program, the 2024 whiskey is overaged to a maturity well beyond its ten-year age statement, bottled only when Michter's production team judges it ready rather than on a fixed schedule. McKee called it "a wonderful single barrel whiskey... brimming with all the characteristics that I look for in a special bourbon," while Wilson highlighted its "excellent nose, creamy texture and an array of characteristics on the palate that ascend through to the finish." That character is the product of Michter's six signature production techniques: cooperage oak open-air seasoned for 18 to 60 months; barrels toasted before charring to deepen caramelized flavor; a costly lower 103 entry proof (51.5% ABV) for a richer barrel chemistry and less added water at bottling; and heat-cycled warehousing that pushes the whiskey deeper into the wood through Kentucky's seasonal swings. Because it is a single barrel, every barrel Michter's bottles must clear the distillery's rigorous quality standards, and each is finished with the custom filtration protocol chosen to highlight that whiskey's best qualities.
