The 2021 Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 94.4 proof (47.2% ABV) and produced by Michter's Distillery (DSP-KY-20003) in Shively, Louisville, Kentucky. A single-barrel, limited-quantity release matured in new, fire-charred American white oak, the 2021 edition was hand-selected by Master Distiller Dan McKee with Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
Like every Michter's 10 Year Bourbon, the 2021 release is overaged beyond its ten-year age statement and bottled only when the whiskey is judged fully matured. Its barrels spent their final years in Michter's heat-cycled Kentucky warehouses, where Wilson and her team carefully control the interaction between whiskey and wood — heating and cooling the rickhouses to drive additional aging cycles. That control is one of Michter's six signature production techniques, alongside cooperage oak open-air seasoned for 18 to 60 months, barrels toasted before charring to deepen caramelized flavor, and a costly lower 103 entry proof (51.5% ABV) that trades yield for a richer barrel chemistry and a smoother, fuller mouthfeel. Because it is a single barrel, every barrel Michter's bottles must clear the distillery's rigorous quality standards, and each is finished with the custom filtration protocol chosen to highlight that whiskey's best qualities.
