The 2024 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a 107 Proof (53.5% ABV) straight bourbon produced at the Brown-Forman Shively Distillery (DSP-KY-354). This vintage-dated release utilized 209 barrels aged for 12 years in Warehouses G and L, with Warehouse G notably having its steam heat turned off for several years prior to selection.
It follows the traditional mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. The profile is defined by an unusually high proof for the series and a shorter-than-average fermentation, resulting in concentrated notes of dark caramel, molasses, and spice cake with a long finish of toasted oak and cacao.
