The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release Decade IV is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 87.4 proof (43.7% ABV) in a 700ml format by The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Launched in 2022 among six numbered Decade editions celebrating 60 years of Bond cinema, it takes the 1990s as its subject, with the whole collection sharing the 43.7% strength chosen in tribute to agent 007.
Decade IV opens in 1995, when Pierce Brosnan stepped into the role with GoldenEye and brought a new sensitivity to the classic Bond formula. Productions grew more complex through the decade, and the packaging honours that craft with two pieces of original archive art: the pre-title action-sequence storyboard from GoldenEye (1995) and concept art for media mogul Elliot Carver's stealth ship in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), a sketch strikingly close to the prop built for the finished film. Brosnan carried the role to the decade's close with The World Is Not Enough (1999), as the series embraced digital-age spectacle without surrendering its stunt-driven roots.
The single malt within was composed by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell to express Bond's blend of polish and quiet strength. It is bottled without an age statement at a natural colour The Macallan calls Suisse (Swiss) gold, and the distillery confirms one consistent liquid runs through all six bottles of the series. Because the cask make-up is not officially disclosed, the label and presentation pack are the authoritative source for further detail. As with its five siblings, the emphasis falls on balance and refinement rather than brute strength, a whisky intended to be recognisably Macallan from the first nosing.
Washed in a defining colour of the 1990s, the Decade IV tube captures the moment Bond modernised for a new generation.
