The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release Decade II is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 87.4 proof (43.7% ABV) by The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, and presented in a 700ml bottle. Released in 2022 for the 60th anniversary of the Bond film franchise, it is the second chapter in a six-bottle series in which every edition honours one decade of 007, with the 43.7% strength itself a deliberate homage to the agent's code number.
Decade II celebrates the 1970s and the rise of Roger Moore, whose mischievous wit and elegant aplomb gave Bond a lighter touch through a heavier decade. The packaging draws directly on the era's most ambitious productions: exterior concept art of Stromberg's Atlantis marine research lab from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), a design famously inspired by Sardinia's Cala di Volpe hotel, alongside space-station concept sketches from Moonraker (1979), when Bond's ambitions left the planet altogether. Between those poles came Moore's debut in Live and Let Die (1973) and The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), rounding out a decade in which the franchise chased every current of the age, from the martial-arts craze to the space race.
The whisky itself was created by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell to mirror the character of Bond: style and maturity that have evolved over the years. It is a no-age-statement single malt with a natural Suisse (Swiss) gold colour, and The Macallan confirms the same liquid fills all six bottles in the collection, making the decade-specific artwork the true differentiator. Cask composition is not officially published, so consult the label and packaging for the distillery's complete notes.
Colour-washed in a trending tone of the 1970s, the Decade II tube reads like a page from the Bond production office. For collectors, it captures the series at its most exuberant, when set designer imagination defined the franchise, and it is an essential link in the six-bottle run.
