Twenty-five years is where the triple cask recipe achieves its most robust register. The distillery's notes open on a bright amber colour and a rich, forceful nose of peach, blood orange and wood spice. The palate is intense, leading with coconut and vanilla, the clearest fingerprints of long ex-bourbon maturation, threaded with sultana, lemon and a subtle hint of peat, and the finish lingers on sherry, orange and spice: three cask types, each still audible after a quarter century. It is the range's most complete answer to the question of what long bourbon-cask aging does to Macallan spirit.

Where the earlier listings for this age statement document its packaging eras, this entry concerns the whisky itself, and its standing in the range. Above it stood only the 30 Year Old; below it, the 21 marked the transition out of the core lineup.
