Macallan The Archival Series Folio 8 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), a no-age-statement single malt Scotch whisky from The Macallan Distillery in Craigellachie, Speyside. The eighth volume in the limited Archival Series begun in 2015, Folio 8 made history as the first release in the run offered in the United States, allocated by exclusive ballot in early 2025 with roughly 450 bottles for the market, before reaching The Macallan's airport boutiques worldwide from April 2025.

Folio 8 commemorates 'The Colossus of Nose,' the legendary 1980s billboard that played on The Colossus of Rhodes to salute the towering aroma of the whisky The Macallan proudly called the King of Malts. It is the campaign at its most monumental: where earlier adverts whispered wittily from newspaper margins, this one stood tall over passers-by, a giant visual pun celebrating the magnificent nose that had already made the single malt famous, now revived for a new generation on the label and in the accompanying archive material.

The whisky lives up to the billboard. The Macallan describes a vintage terracotta colour and a nose of ripe dried fruits, sweet berry compote, toffee, lemon peel, cinnamon and just a hint of anise, giving way to ginger, a burst of citrus and sweet oak on the palate, with a long, rich finish of sweet oak spices. As with earlier volumes, a commemorative booklet celebrating the brand's vintage advertising accompanies the bottle, together with digital content, all inside the beautiful book-shaped box that slots alongside the earlier Folios.

As the newest volume and the first to cross the Atlantic, Folio 8 widens the audience for the whole encyclopedia while remaining fiercely limited in number. For collectors, it is both the current final chapter of the set and a signal that the Archival Series story, like the campaign it honours, is still being written, one witty, beautifully bound volume at a time.
