Announced in November 2023 and crafted at The Macallan Distillery in Craigellachie, Speyside, this limited edition single malt captures one of the world's most vivid celebrations—Mexico's Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Bottling strength for this edition is stated on the label, while the whisky itself carries the sherry-seasoned oak signature that has defined the house since 1824.

The Macallan Whisky Maker Diane Stuart travelled to Mexico City with Joan Roca of El Celler de Can Roca—the three-Michelin-star Girona restaurant twice named best in the world—to immerse themselves in the traditions, craftsmanship and artistry at the heart of the festival. Their journey, documented in a 30-minute film, informed a whisky designed to reflect the energy, colour and spirit of a celebration that honours life as joyfully as it remembers the departed. It is the same working method that has defined every chapter of the series: months of sensory research on the ground, then a return to Speyside to find the casks that can tell the story.

In the glass, the whisky wears a 100% natural marigold hue, mirroring the cempasúchil flowers that blanket altars and streets each autumn. The profile is warm and festive: sugared pan de muerto—the celebrated bread of the dead—folds into creamy vanilla and sweet pineapple, a flavour trio that translates Mexico's bakery counters and fruit stalls into Speyside single malt with remarkable fidelity. Bright, sweet and unmistakably celebratory, it stands apart from the darker, spicier registers of the London and Hong Kong editions.

Following the London and New York editions, Mexico extended the Distil Your World journey into the Americas' most storied festival culture and marked Diane Stuart's authorship within the series.
