The barrels selected for this fall bottling were filled between the fall of 2004 and the spring of 2005, maturing for 18 years and 5 months in new charred American oak. This release pulled from warehouses K, L, and M, experiencing a natural aging cycle that reached peak equilibrium without the use of tanking or vatting.
The structural framework is defined by a high-viscosity body and a "polished" profile that has become the hallmark of modern Buffalo Trace-distilled rye. Technical notes emphasize a delicate balance of macadamia nut blossom honey and bright citrus zest, transitioning into a long finish characterized by cooling menthol and refined oak tannins.
