Thomas H. Handy Sazerac 2024 is a raw, barrel-strength expression from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, distilled at DSP-KY-113. Distilled in the spring of 2018, this spirit underwent a maturation period of 6 years and 3 months in new charred American white oak (#4 char). This vintage reached 127.2 proof, a technical result of maturation on the middle to top floors of Rick Warehouses, where the barrels experienced a significant 28% evaporation loss.
Unlike the age-stated releases in the collection, the Handy series is technically defined by its vibrant, high-viscosity profile and youthful intensity. Because it was bottled uncut and unfiltered, the liquid maintains a dense structural framework of bold spice and rich sweetness, delivering notes of dark chocolate, honeyed fruit, and a persistent herbal rye pepper that characterizes the distillery's contemporary barrel-strength rye production.
