A single-barrel, limited-quantity release matured in new, fire-charred American white oak, the 2025 edition was approved for release in late March 2025 by Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
Like every Michter's 10 Year Bourbon, the whiskey is overaged beyond its ten-year age statement rather than bottled on a fixed schedule. As President Joseph J. Magliocco notes, Michter's bottles its whiskey only when the production team deems it fully matured — a standard set by the distillery's first Kentucky Master Distiller, Willie Pratt. McKee described the 2025 release as having "remarkable body and character," with a richness and complexity that delivers a robust, flavorful experience without climbing above 100 proof. That depth is built through Michter's six signature production techniques: cooperage oak open-air seasoned for a minimum of 18 months and up to 60; barrels toasted before charring to deepen caramelized flavor; a costly lower 103 entry proof (51.5% ABV) for richer barrel chemistry; and heat-cycled warehousing that draws the whiskey deeper into the wood across Kentucky's seasonal swings. Because it is a single barrel, every barrel Michter's bottles must clear the distillery's rigorous quality standards, and each is finished with the custom filtration protocol chosen to highlight that whiskey's best qualities.
