The 2000 Maker's Mark Keeneland is a unique limited-edition commemorative bottle and perhaps the most iconic entry in the annual charitable series. This high-intent collectible bottle is technically distinguished by its green and gold wax seal, a departure from standard releases. Unlike other installments, this bottle was famously issued without any bourbon inside because the distillery’s supply was critically low due to a fire at the time. Despite being empty, the release was a massive success, with thousands of units selling out in less than an hour to support the Tubby Smith Foundation for at-risk youth.
The technical presentation features a 1-Liter bottle engineered for the annual Keeneland Spring Meet bottle signing event. It was designed to convey a message of philanthropy over product, ultimately raising over $200,000 for Coach Tubby Smith’s charity. Produced at the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, this "juice-less" edition remains a legendary conversation piece and a primary target for Big Blue Nation fans and collectors of rare Kentucky distilling history.
