Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Wheated Bourbon 105 Entry Proof is a Wheated Bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This 2013 release was distilled from Buffalo Trace's wheated mash bill, came off the still at 130 proof, entered the barrel at 105 proof, and aged for eleven years and seven months before being bottled at 90 proof.

The Experimental Collection is Buffalo Trace's long-running program of one-off whiskeys exploring unique mash bills, woods, barrel toasts, and aging conditions, with more than 2,000 experimental barrels aging in the distillery's warehouses. The Wheated Bourbon Entry Proof series held everything constant except the proof at which the new-make went into barrel, with four bottles released at 90, 105, 115, and 125 entry proof to isolate how dilution before barreling changes a wheated bourbon's character - a study that later informed Buffalo Trace's 114-proof house standard for wheated mashbills.

On the nose, it shows balanced sweetness with caramel and vanilla. The palate brings nicely balanced sweet caramel, vanilla, and dry oak, and the finish carries a clean, balanced close.

The 105 entry proof produced the cleanest balance of sweet and dry in the wheated series, with the lower-proof entry preserving caramel and vanilla against a dry oak frame. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
