The Willett Family Estate 12 Year Old Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey is twelve-year Kentucky bourbon in the format that built the Willett legend: a single cask, bottled without dilution at barrel proof, purple-sealed and numbered bottle by bottle. Because every cask is bottled at its own natural strength, no two releases at this age statement are quite alike: each barrel emerges at its own proof, carries its own barrel number, and both are printed on the label of the bottle in hand.

Twelve years is the age at which the Family Estate label first earned its reputation. When the family introduced the label in 2008, its stocks were the extraordinary aged Kentucky barrels accumulated through the Kentucky Bourbon Distillers era — the independent bottling house Even Kulsveen built after taking over the silent distillery in 1984 — and well-aged casks in this range became the program's calling card. Willett has never disclosed those barrels' origins, an old habit of a house that prefers its labels to do the certifying: barrel number, bottle number, proof.

Today the distillery Thompson Willett established in 1936 distills again on the family property — production resumed in 2012 under fifth-generation Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen — and twelve-year barrels increasingly reflect that estate era as the years advance.
