WhistlePig 18 Year Old Double Malt Straight Rye Whiskey is bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV) and aged and bottled by WhistlePig at its farm in Shoreham, Vermont. When first released, it was the oldest whiskey WhistlePig had ever offered — an ultra-aged showcase of the distillery's blending and finishing craft built on a distinctive double-malt mash bill of 79% rye, 15% malted rye, and 6% malted barley.
The "Double Malt" name comes from that dual use of malted rye and malted barley, which adds layered, malt-driven depth on top of WhistlePig's signature rye spice across nearly two decades of maturation. The whiskey carries a sweet, spicy character: red apple and cinnamon on the nose with vanilla and oak, giving way to rye spice, clove, allspice, and peppered oak, and finishing long with a candy-like sweetness.
Every bottle is presented in a navy blue box and sealed with a one-of-a-kind glass stopper hand-blown for WhistlePig by AO Glass in Burlington, Vermont — no two stoppers are exactly alike. As one of WhistlePig's oldest and most prestigious rye releases, the 18 Year Double Malt is a benchmark in extra-aged American rye and a definitive trophy bottle for serious collectors. WhistlePig has become one of the most celebrated names in modern rye whiskey, and its 18 Year sits at the pinnacle of that acclaimed lineup. Founded in 2007 on a 500-acre former dairy farm in Shoreham, Vermont, WhistlePig helped lead the modern rye whiskey renaissance under founding master distiller Dave Pickerell, the former Maker's Mark master distiller whose blending and finishing expertise shaped the brand's most prestigious bottlings. The 18 Year Double Malt represents the upper limit of that craft, reserving the distillery's oldest and most refined stocks for a whiskey aged nearly two decades and presented with the care its rarity deserves.
