The Uncle Nearest 1884 Pink Tennessee Whiskey dresses the brand's descendant-signed small batch in a pink-label edition: the 93 proof (46.5% ABV) Tennessee whiskey aged a minimum of seven years, wearing packaging that departs from the standard 1884 presentation — with the edition's purpose and particulars noted on the bottle itself.
The whiskey follows the 1884 specification to the letter. Named for the final year Nathan “Nearest” Green is believed to have barreled his own whiskey before retiring, and bottled at 93 proof because Green's whiskey is believed to have been sold near that strength, 1884 launched in July 2019 with every batch curated and signed by one of Green's descendants — a tradition begun by Victoria Eady Butler, his great-great-granddaughter, whose Batch 001 debut led to back-to-back Master Blender of the Year honors from Whisky Magazine in 2021 and 2022. The brand describes honey, brown sugar, cedar, and orange peel on the nose; caramel, baking chocolate, and cinnamon on the palate; and a long cinnamon-maple finish.
Special-label editions of 1884 are documented on their bottles rather than in press archives, so treat this label as the record for the pink edition's occasion, batch, and signer. The whiskey's pedigree needs no such caveat: it comes from the house that was, per its announcements, the most awarded American whiskey or bourbon each year from 2019 through 2022, made in the Lincoln County style Green himself helped perfect.
For collectors of the brand, label variants of the descendant-signed small batch are a category of their own — same acclaimed whiskey, rarer dress. The pink edition is among the most distinctive on the shelf, and like every 1884 batch, it carries a family signature no other whiskey in America can offer. Rarer dress, same remarkable lineage — a variant worth shelving beside the standard batch.
