The Jack Daniel's Belle of Lincoln is among the most storied decanters the distillery has ever produced. "Belle of Lincoln" was a whiskey brand name from the 1890s, coined when the operation still sat in what was then Lincoln County, and Mr. Jack had an ornate presentation bottle made under that name — never mass produced, given away personally as gifts. In 1979 the distillery recreated it from surviving sketches and descriptions as a commemorative 1.75-liter magnum, filled with sour mash at 90 proof (45% ABV).

The recreation captures a Victorian sensibility that no modern packaging attempts: elaborate glasswork, a grand silhouette, and proportions built for a sideboard rather than a bar rail. Alongside the Gold Medal decanters and the Master Distiller line, the Belle of Lincoln anchors serious collections both for its glass and for its proof — 90 was the old standard, two step-downs removed from today's bottling strength.

Whiskey of this era ran through the same sugar maple charcoal and new charred oak the distillery uses now, and period 90-proof Jack is remembered for a broader, sweeter frame: heavy caramel, apple, corn bread, char, and oak spice with genuine grip on the finish. Sealed examples preserve that profile as a liquid time capsule from four decades back.

Candor matters with vintage glass. This example comes as the bottle only, without the original box, and a decanter of this age can show natural evaporation, settled fill, and honest wear — the standard condition realities of 1970s collectibles. Displayed upright and out of sunlight, it is a centerpiece piece of Jack Daniel's history that few shelves can answer.
