George Remus Repeal Reserve Series IV is the 2020 vintage of the yearly medley marking the repeal of Prohibition, and the tightest blend in the run: every drop was distilled in a single year, 2008, and aged an even 12 years. That single-vintage discipline gives the fourth edition an unusually focused character within a series famous for complex multi-year recipes.

Composed at the Lawrenceburg, Indiana distillery historically known as MGP (renamed Ross & Squibb), the 100 proof blend pairs just two components: 77% bourbon from the 21% rye mash bill and 23% from the 36% rye recipe, both drawn from 2008 barrels of new charred American oak. Two mash bills, one distilling season, twelve patient years.

In the glass it reads dark and confident. Dark chocolate and wildflower honey rise first from the nose, with toasted oak underneath; the palate develops caramel, black tea, and baking spices in even measure, the modest 36% rye share arriving late with a flick of pepper. The finish lingers on rye spice, oak tannin, and a fade of bittersweet cocoa.

Released in strictly limited annual quantities, the 2020 medley sits at the structural center of the Repeal Reserve vertical, bridging the decade-old blends of the early years and the broader five-component recipes that followed. Tasted against Series III and V, it shows exactly what a lone vintage can say on its own.
