In July 2026, the brand came home. Rare Character Whiskey Company, the Louisville-based independent bottler celebrated for its single-barrel programs, relaunched Black Maple Hill with a three-strong slate of Kentucky straight bourbons, restoring the marque to the state where its legend was built. This 16 Year Old expression crowns that inaugural lineup as its rarest and most mature release.
Drawn from meticulously selected Kentucky barrels aged a minimum of sixteen years, the whiskey is married in small batches and bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) in a 700ml presentation. Extended maturation in charred new American oak yields deep caramel, vanilla, dark fruit, toasted oak, and warm baking spice, delivered with the polish and balance that only long-aged bourbon can offer.
