The Willett Family Estate 17 Year Old Single Barrel No. 1564 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is seventeen-year Kentucky straight bourbon from a single cask — barrel No. 1564 — bottled at full barrel proof by the family-owned Willett Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Seventeen-year Willett belongs to the stocks that built the legend. Through the decades when the family operated as Kentucky Bourbon Distillers — the independent bottling house Even Kulsveen ran from 1984 — Willett acquired exceptional aged barrels from undisclosed Kentucky distilleries, and the deepest of those reserves surfaced under the Willett Family Estate label the family introduced in 2008. A barrel like No. 1564 spent the better part of two decades in Kentucky oak before the family deemed it ready, emerging as the kind of dense, antique-style bourbon that made these purple-sealed bottles grail objects.

Because every Family Estate barrel is bottled individually and undiluted, the numbers that matter — proof, bottle count, and each bottle's number within the barrel — are unique to this cask and stated on its label. Willett publishes nothing about individual barrels, keeping the label itself as the document of record; the reticence is long-standing house practice, and part of the mystique.

Extra-aged Willett bourbon occupies rarefied air among collectors — Whisky Advocate counts the label's older bottlings among the most coveted in American whiskey — and seventeen years puts barrel No. 1564 within reach of the oldest whiskey the family has ever released. One barrel, one proof, one finite run: a sourcing-era time capsule from bourbon's first family of barrel selection, and a bottle whose like will not come around again. Whiskey of this age is finite in the most literal sense: the sourcing era that produced it has ended for good, its remaining stock only shrinks, and every release chips away at what is left.
