The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release Decade III, a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky at 87.4 proof (43.7% ABV), comes from The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland in a 700ml bottle. Issued in 2022 as part of a six-bottle series marking 60 years of Bond films, it dedicates its packaging to the third decade of the franchise, while the collection-wide 43.7% bottling strength quietly salutes 007 himself.
Decade III spans the 1980s, when Roger Moore's playfulness gave way to the brooding intensity of Timothy Dalton. Famous for re-reading Ian Fleming's novels on set, Dalton brought the author's original character study to the screen in The Living Daylights (1987) and Licence to Kill (1989). The pack design reaches back to the decade's opening films, featuring logo concept art from Octopussy (1983) that appeared on the film's poster, plus the A.T.A.C. operations-area sketch and storyboard sequence from For Your Eyes Only (1981). Moore himself carried the first half of the decade, through Octopussy and A View to a Kill (1985), before handing over the tuxedo to his successor.
In the glass, this is Kirsteen Campbell's portrait of Bond in whisky form: composed, resilient and refined. The expression carries no age statement, shows a natural Suisse (Swiss) gold colour, and, per The Macallan, is identical across all six Decade releases, so the era-specific artwork is what sets each bottle apart. The distillery has not published the cask recipe, so the label and pack remain the reference for full production details.
The tube's colour wash borrows a signature 1980s tone, framing archive sketches that most fans have never seen outside the Bond production vaults. For collectors, Decade III bridges the two faces of 1980s Bond, from Moore's swansong era to Dalton's harder edge, and completes the classic half of the six-decade timeline. Shown beside its five companions, it also marks the final decade before the franchise's long hiatus, a note of finality that students of the series will appreciate.
