It is drawn from the range's signature trio of casks, sherry-seasoned European oak, sherry-seasoned American oak and ex-bourbon American oak, married into a single, richly balanced malt. It was among the five expressions of the range distributed in the United States.

Fifteen years is where the Fine Oak profile turns decisively richer. The distillery's notes describe a rich straw colour and a sublime, full nose carrying rose and cinnamon; the palate delivers intense rich chocolate with orange and raisin, and the finish lingers on chocolate, orange and dried fruits. Whisky Advocate's reviewer judged it richer and more complex than the 10 Year Old and better balanced than the 21, a sweet spot in the middle of the range. It is also the age at which the ex-bourbon casks stop merely brightening the marriage and begin contributing genuine depth of their own.

The 750ml bottling reflects the format used for the United States, where the Fine Oak series built a dedicated following as the lighter counterpart to The Macallan's sherried house style. Renamed Triple Cask Matured in April 2018, the whisky inside remained unchanged: the same three-cask marriage, the same minimum age, presented under the bolder identity the range wore in its final years.

That final chapter closed when the Triple Cask Matured range was discontinued, its slot in the core portfolio ceded to Double Cask. The 15 Year Old, often singled out by critics as the range's best value for character, has become one of the more actively hunted casualties of that decision. A sealed 750ml example now represents a complete, self-contained piece of the Fine Oak story at its qualitative peak. Its dual-name title, carrying both Fine Oak and Triple Cask Matured, captures the range at the exact moment of its final identity.
