The Suntory Hibiki Japanese Harmony 100th Anniversary Limited Edition Design marks a century of Suntory whisky-making, counted from founder Shinjiro Torii's groundbreaking of the Yamazaki distillery in 1923. Released in 2023 as a one-time commemorative bottling at 86 proof (43% ABV), it dresses the house's flagship blend in packaging created specifically for the centennial year.
The House of Suntory presents the design as a tribute to its philosophy of living in harmony with people and nature. Its decoration centers on a bridge motif drawn from the Setsugekka tradition — the classical Japanese triad of snow, moon and flowers — rendered across the glass as a symbol of passage between the brand's first hundred years and its next, with the artwork tied to the house's ideal of monozukuri craftsmanship.
The whisky inside is the established Japanese Harmony blend; the anniversary treatment is a design edition rather than a new recipe. In the glass it shows luminous amber, a softly perfumed nose, then a silky palate of honey, candied orange peel and white chocolate that resolves into a tender finish carrying a suggestion of Mizunara oak.
