Glenmorangie A Tale of Tokyo Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited-edition Highland single malt bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV), the fourth chapter in the distillery's imaginative Tale Of series. Conceived as a liquid postcard from Japan's electric capital, it translates the sensory contrasts of Tokyo — neon crossings and quiet temple gardens, ancient ritual and midnight energy — into a dram of unusual spice, perfume, and depth.

The heart of the recipe is Mizunara, a slow-growing Japanese oak so scarce and so difficult to cooper that it ranks among the rarest cask woods on earth. This release marks the first time the Highland house has worked with it: spirit part-aged in Mizunara casks is married with whisky drawn from ex-bourbon and sherry casks, layering sandalwood-like incense and exotic spice over bright orchard fruit.

The presentation is a collaboration with celebrated Japanese artist Yamaguchi Akira, whose intricate artwork wraps the packaging in swirling, layered scenes of the city — old Edo and modern Tokyo colliding in a single image, much as the casks collide in the glass. As a one-time limited edition, bottles have become steadily harder to find since release.

In the glass, expect pink peppercorn and bitter cherry over mouth-watering orange zest, with incense smoke, coconut, and sweet oak building through a long, gently spiced finish.
