1992 Signatory Vintage Dalmore Waldhaus am See St. Moritz 28 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an independent-bottled rarity that unites a storied Highland distillery, a revered bottler, and one of the world's great whisky destinations. Distilled at The Dalmore in Alness, Ross-shire, in 1992 and matured for 28 years, this single malt was drawn from a single cask, number 1745, and bottled at 44.3% ABV in 750ml by Signatory Vintage.

Signatory Vintage, founded in Edinburgh in 1988 by Andrew Symington and owner of the Edradour distillery since 2002, ranks among Scotland's most respected independent bottlers, famed for single casks presented on their own terms. Its reputation rests on exactly this kind of quiet, patient cask selection. Official Dalmore releases dominate the market, which makes an indie-bottled Dalmore of this age a genuine outlier: a chance to taste nearly three decades of the distillery's Highland spirit through a single cask rather than a house marriage.

This cask was bottled for the Waldhaus am See hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland, home of the famed Devil's Place whisky bar, a destination celebrated for holding one of the largest whisky selections on earth. The bar's ledger of rarities runs into the thousands, and commissions like this one are chosen to live among them. Hotel-dedicated single casks of this pedigree rarely travel far from their commissioning cellar, adding a further layer of scarcity to an already limited bottling from a distillery whose independent releases grow scarcer every year.

In the glass, 28 years of maturation show in rich notes of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and gentle spice, Dalmore's malty depth rendered leaner and more mineral than its sherry-forward official siblings, with a long, smooth finish. It is a bottle for collectors of independent bottlings, devotees of aged Dalmore, and anyone drawn to whiskies with a story. A bottle like this connects three legacies, distillery, bottler, and bar, in a single pour. Serve neat, and slowly.
