2026 Booker's The Reserves is a rye whiskey finished in apple brandy barrels and infused with cinnamon, released by the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky as the third annual edition of the Booker's The Reserves series. It is the first rye to appear in the series, and — like every Booker's release — it goes into the bottle uncut and unfiltered.

The Reserves was launched in 2024 by Freddie Noe, the Beam family's eighth generation master distiller, to commemorate his grandfather Booker Noe, the sixth generation master distiller who introduced Booker's in 1988 after years of bottling barrel-strength whiskey as holiday gifts for friends and family. Where a standard Booker's batch is drawn from a broad selection of barrels, The Reserves is built from fewer and older ones that Noe hand-picks across the distillery's warehouses, and it is released in smaller quantities once a year.

Each edition has pushed further from the Booker's template. The inaugural 2024 release was an unfinished bourbon at 125.9 proof, blended from just eight barrels pulled from different production dates and warehouse floors, ranging from eight years, two months and twelve days to fourteen years, four months and sixteen days. The 2025 edition was the first Booker's ever to be barrel finished, spending eleven weeks in tequila casks with an unusual provenance — barrels that had first held Booker's 30th Anniversary Bourbon, then travelled to Mexico for El Tesoro's 85th Anniversary tequila before returning to Kentucky. The 2026 edition moves further still, switching the base spirit from bourbon to rye, finishing it in apple brandy barrels, and adding cinnamon.

That last step is what makes this release genuinely unusual for the brand. Booker's has built its reputation on undiluted, unadorned barrel-proof whiskey, and an infused expression sits at the opposite end of that tradition — a deliberate provocation from a distiller who has spent his own career widening what the Beam name is allowed to do. Rye itself is rare ground here: Booker's best-known rye remains the 2016 Big Time Batch, a thirteen-year-old limited edition that has become one of the most sought-after bottles the brand has ever put out.

For collectors, the draw is scarcity plus novelty. The Reserves is an annual, single-run series with no repeat batches, and this edition is the only one to combine rye, an apple brandy finish and a cinnamon infusion. Whatever it turns out to taste like, there will not be another one.
