The 1999 Woodford Reserve Breeder's Cup Kentucky Straight Bourbon in the one-liter format is a commemorative bottling from the brand's very first years, released when Woodford Reserve was still introducing itself to the bourbon world. Issued to mark the 1999 running of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, it stands today as one of the earliest collectible expressions to carry the Woodford name.

The timing gives this bottle its historical weight. Brown-Forman had repurchased the old Labrot & Graham distillery property in Versailles, Kentucky in 1993, restored its stone warehouses and copper pot stills, and launched Woodford Reserve in 1996 — meaning this 1999 commemorative comes from the Labrot & Graham era, before the distillery itself was renamed. Bottles from this founding window rarely surface intact today.

Inside is Kentucky Straight Bourbon at Woodford's traditional 90.4 proof, drawn from an era of genuinely small-batch production. Expect the house profile in its early form: dried fruit and toasted oak layered with vanilla, cocoa, and rye spice, finishing warm and rounded. Many collectors keep these bottlings sealed, since the liter presentation with its racing livery displays beautifully.

As a vintage item stored for more than two decades, this bottle may show honest signs of age — minor label wear, capsule scuffing, or slight fill variation are normal for the period and are part of its provenance. For Woodford devotees, Breeders' Cup completists, or anyone assembling a timeline of the distillery's output, this is a cornerstone piece.
